Year in Review 2005

Well...

It's almost that time of year again...Time to start a new year.

Where has the year gone?
As I sit here at my brother's computer in Connecticut and type this I try to remember both the good and bad of the passing year.

The first half of the year was spent working a thankless job for an evil corporation (TICKETMASTER). This was a job I would not wish on my worst enemy (exception made for Johnny Damon). This job and period of time was truly a low point in my life as I was not doing something that was fulfilling while my friends continued to progress with their lives.

After many failed attempts at finding a good job I decided that the best course of action would be to go back to WVU and complete my Masters of Public Administration program bringing my collection of degrees to 2 undergrad degrees and 2 graduate degrees. Not only did this work out but I also got the chance to reconnect with old friends from school and church in the Morgantown area but to start to make new ones also.

I did some traveling this year both recreational and business(Fraternity). Fraternity wise I went to Memphis in April and various trips to the Cincinnati area. Recreational travel included Tampa, FL where I got to see the Red Sox play at Tropicana Field, Cleveland to see the Indians play the Athletics(2 games), Pittsburgh to see the Pirates, Cincinnati to see COLDPLAY in concert, and of course Connecticut to visit my brother and check out UCONN.

Overall I would rate the year 6 out of 10. No major changes in my life and pretty much same type of luck in areas I have been trying to change.

Hopefully 2006 will be a better year all around.

The Evil Empire Strikes

Johnny Damon...you have just made the enemies list.

Ok...so you don't want to play for the Red Sox anymore but The Yankees? The Yankees?! I'd rather see you get brain cancer than go to the %#$@*& Yankees.

Yeesh...52 million for 4 years...Where is the team loyalty these days...Damon talked about how he would like to play for the Sox again but I guess money is king.

What's that you say? What? I can't hear you Johnny, you're dead to me now...

Oh yeah and get a haircut and shave

Technology....No Place for Wimps

Technology, these days we can't live with it and we can't live without it.
So the past two weeks I have been pulling my hair out when dealing with technology. I am really good with handling technical stuff and can usually fix whatever happens.

Last Week:I was typing a paper for class and boom I somehow get viruses on my computer. So I figure I will just scan the computer using my Norton Corporate Edition and fix the problem...I wish. Luckily I did not lose my paper and nothing seems to extend beyond thefact that I can't seem to get rid of the stupid things no matter what I try (unlike when I was typing my Master's Thesis for Political Science and lost everything when my computer crashed). The paper was later than I told the professor I would have it to him and I was just frustrated. And to make matters worse I can't access some internet sites correctly.

Today:My roommate from college is in the local production of Seussical the Musical as the Grinch. Today he went to the local Barnes and Noble to read the story to the children in costume. So me and some friends went to see him since we are too cheap to pay to see him actually perform. I took my digital camera which since coming back from San Francisco last year has not been working properly. The view screen in it went bad and to get it fixed I would be paying about what I would to buy a new, somewhat better camera. Well I took some pictures and a short video and even had a picture taken with him to post here on the blog. Well I get home put the cdr in the drive and for some reason the pictures did not take or there was a disc problem so I did not get any of the pictures.

I can't wait till my new laptop comes in because it should have no problems at all and it is going to rock.

Ho Hum...

Well I was going to write about how much I hate the library at WVU (might still do it) but right now I just don't feel like trying(and I really mean trying) to be funny. I don't know maybe it's uncertainty about the future or that I feel stuck in a rut or just not happy with where I am in life (in relationship to where I feel I should be or in relationship to my friends)...I really don't know. I mean yes its great that I have the degrees that I have but what good are they if I can't find a job that I enjoy...maybe I should just go to bed before this gets too personnal

Too Much Free Time...

Lately I haven't had a lot of free time but at the end of this week I most likely will once I finish my last paper. The following are signs that yes, you do have to much free time,

• You Know All The Words To Manfred Mann's "Blinded By the Light":
This one is real easy to understand. There are actually a couple of people out there who know the words to this song! Most people can only sing the chorus "Blinded by the light...revved up like a deuce...another runner in the night" but some people out there can go the whole nine yards!

• You Change Your Cat's Litter Box More Than Twice A Day:
This not only confuses the cat by making it think it has more work to do, but it shows you need a stamp collection.

• If You Collect Garden hoses:
I shouldn't even have to go any further.

• You Play Along With Game Shows on TV:
If you find yourself yelling at the person not to poll the audience or not to buy a vowel and solve the puzzel. It's time to start looking around for some nice hobbies such as......stamps or garden hose collecting.

• You Find Yourself Reading The Backs Of Girl scout Cookie Boxes:
Who doesn't want to learn a little about the ladies,"Hmmm it says here that all the money that comes from the Minty Cookie goes to fund the Softball game for the girl scouts next year.....OH WONDERFUL!!!" .....if you find yourself doing this then keep on going!! Who doesn't want to learn about these great women!

• You Dump Your Boyfriend:
This is obviously a sign you have too much free time...I mean why would you want to destroy a love so strong...oh man it’s horrible...I mean she dumped me like I was her problem and it was just because she was bored....come on what was wrong with our beautiful love.....we were running against the wind that's all....Please come back sweetie, back into my arms...I...I...oh… I've seem to have drifted off the topic....sorry.

• You Watch the latest “Reality TV" Show and Become Emotionally Attached to the Contestants:
Just throw the toaster in the bathtub it's over! You are sad.

• You Spend More Than 45 Minutes in the Gym a Day and Nobody Cares What You Look Like:
Need I say more???

• You Post To Your Blog Multiple Times in a Day:
NO NO!!! THIS IS GOOD. Not only does it build character but you learn a little about yourself...and provides you with an opportunity to show people how boring your life really is and in the end they can feel better about themselves,

Nothing Says Christmas Like a Puking Cardinal

So this weekend I went with my church Homegroup to Oglebey in Wheeling,WV. Now I am a fan of the great things WV has to offer and I had heard alot of good things about the light show that they put on there. However, after going there and seeing it in person I really was not impressed...of course the line of cars with the 3 hours wait did not add anything to the trip. While maybe one or two of the displays were interesting...like the PEANUTS themed lights displays, I was expecting more than lights every 20 feet or so along the road. The display which was the funniest was the cardinal which was feeding its babies ...it looked like the thing was vomiting. If you get the urge to make the long drive to see the lights expect to wait forever in line or you could break down and purchase the video for $20 and watch it from the comfort of your own home.

BLAZIN' Challenge

So this evening I went to BW3's with some friends and I did the BLAZIN' Challenge. The Challenge is to eat 12 wings with the Blazin' Sauce (which is supposed to be hot) in 6 minutes. So I have been wanting to do this for awhile but wanted to wait for an audience to do it in front of. So tonight was the night...I ate the 12 wings in 2 min. 14 sec. the waitress and my friends were stunned to say the least. I got a niffty t-shirt and will get my picture on the wall (they did not have film in the camera tonight. I beat my younger brothers time which was 3 min. 12 sec. I just hope its not "blazin'" when it comes out tomorrow.
